Safety Demonstrations

York Electric Cooperative puts a lot of energy into educating the public about electricity. We regularly offer safety demonstrations to students and other groups throughout our service area in an effort to teach important safety lessons to the participants.

YEC is equipped with a variety of fun and educational safety demonstration tools and activities. Our electrified miniature town display provides an exciting opportunity for viewers to see firsthand many real-life electrical hazards in action. Using wired dolls that light up when electrified, experienced Operations Department employees can demonstrate the dangers of flying kites near power lines, digging in the ground before calling 811, approaching fallen power lines, and more. In addition, our demonstrations include an explanation of the personal protective equipment our lineworkers wear daily and even give viewers a chance to try it on themselves!

Lineman Larry

Lineman Larry has become an electrical safety star to many students in our local elementary schools. Larry Sanders, who has been a lineman with York Electric Cooperative for more than four decades, enjoys taking time to share his knowledge with our future members. Follow along with his lessons on social media, #LinemanLarry!
