York Electric Cooperative has been learning about electric vehicles alongside you. Your co-op is committed to continuing service excellence and being your trusted source for information. To accommodate our members’ growing interest in electric vehicles, we are now offering three different incentives to best meet the diverse needs of our members and their interests.

Optiwatt

Reduce your EV charging costs by up to 70% by allowing automatic scheduling for your EV to charge when rates are cheapest. If you would rather maintain control while also using the Optiwatt scheduler app, you'll enjoy customizable advanced scheduling to fit your lifestyle, whether you charge during peak times or not. You can also set custom departure times for each day of the week and maximize your battery life by saving the last bit of charging to pre-condition your car for departure.

Here's how it works: Once you register your electric vehicle with YEC and download the Optiwatt scheduler app, you can choose between two incentives:

  1. Allow charging control when rates are cheapest, you qualify for a rebate of $250 per charger and $15 per vehicle for the first year, then up to $120 annually for second year on.
  2. Do not allow control but you will still qualify for a $100 one-time credit.

(If you already participate in YEC's Time of Use Rate Program, you may still apply for a one-time $50 Optiwatt credit just for signing up and downloading the Optiwatt app.)

Time of Use Rate Program

Our third incentive option is a Residential Rebate of up to $200 for members with a qualifying Electric Vehicle Charger installed at their home within YEC's service territory. It's simple: YEC will install a time-of-day meter at your home and the less electricity you use during peak times, the more you save. You must have a qualifying Electric Vehicle Charger and a submeter that have been installed separately by a qualified electrician.

Federal Tax Credits

Federal Tax Credit for EV Charging Equipment up to $1,000

Consumers who purchase qualified residential charging equipment may receive a tax credit of 30% of the cost, up to $1,000.

Federal Tax Credit for New & Used Electric Vehicles

A federal tax credit is available for new and used electric vehicles that meet requirements specified in Internal Revenue Code Section 30D.

New Vehicle Clean Credit up to $7,500

You may qualify for a credit up to $7,500 if you buy a new, qualified plug-in EV. The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 changed the rules for this credit for vehicles purchased from 2023 to 2032. Information about new vehicles purchased in 2022 and before or for vehicles purchased in 2023 and after.

Used Vehicle Clean Credit up to $4,000

Beginning January 1, 2023, if you buy a qualified used electric vehicle (EV) from a licensed dealer for $25,000 or less, you may be eligible for a used clean vehicle tax credit. The credit equals 30% of the sale price up to a maximum credit of $4,000. Additional Details.
