Small change, big impact

Operation Round Up allows members to benefit their communities

At York Electric Cooperative, we believe in the power of community. This commitment comes to life through programs such as Operation Round Up, which has funneled over $4 million in grants into our local area since its inception at the cooperative in 2000.

Operation Round Up is a simple yet effective way for members to make resounding impacts on their community. Each month, participating members round up their power bills to the next highest dollar, contributing an average of just 50 cents per month—or about $6 annually. While the individual contributions may seem small, the collective impact is enormous.

An independent group of community leaders, the Operation Round Up Trust Board, meets quarterly to assess local needs and allocate funds to non-profit organizations. These grants empower organizations to pursue their missions and improve the lives of our neighbors.

But the program extends beyond financial assistance for local non-profits. Operation Round Up also supports Bright Ideas, a grant initiative designed to help local teachers bring innovative projects to life in their classrooms.

In every sense, Operation Round Up is people helping people. Today, about three-fourths of York Electric members participate in this program, demonstrating how small acts of generosity can lead to meaningful change.

If you’re not yet a part of this initiative, we invite you to join us. Visit our website and log in to our secure online member portal.
