York Electric Cooperative has the honor of hosting the South Carolina Lineman’s Rodeo on March 22 at the cooperative’s York office, 1385 E. Alexander Love Highway.
Sponsored by The Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina, the event allows lineworkers from across the state to show off their skills in front of family, friends and peers. The rodeo features events such as overhead transformer changeout, streetlight replacement and hurt man rescue. Apprentice lineworkers (less than four years of experience) compete individually in four events, while journeymen compete as three-man crews in four events.
Training and competing in this competition help our linemen hone their skills and gain experience in a safe environment, so they can continue providing members with safe, reliable service each day.
The Lineman’s Rodeo is a family-friendly event including vendors and kid-friendly activities. The day begins with an 8 a.m. flag-raising ceremony.
You may see the construction of the competition course being built on our campus near Cooperative Way beginning in February! Save the date and learn more about the event at ecsc.org/rodeo.
