2013 Annual Meeting Slideshow

The 72nd Annu­al Meet­ing of the Mem­bers of York Elec­tric Coop­er­a­tive was held Sat­ur­day, May 11, at YEC’s main office, locat­ed at 1385 East Alexan­der Love High­way in York.

  1. York Elec­tric Coop­er­a­tive reg­is­tered 3,022 mem­bers at its annu­al meet­ing on May 11.
  2. In the Board of Trustees vot­ing, mem­bers re-elect­ed unop­posed incum­bents Charles R. Bur­rell and Mar­i­on Com­er while incum­bent Richard Sadler out­polled Har­ri­et Pale­cek 1,336–668 to retain his seat.
  3. Free pop-up fly­ing discs taught young­sters like Xiomara, 6, and Xavier Dick­son, 4, to “Play It Safe” with elec­tric­i­ty.
  4.  The inflat­able play area gave kids like Car­son Drap­er, 4, thrills and smiles.
  5.  Dar­rius Sow­ell, 10, rides the slide with more bounce to the ounce.
  6.  Jared Kehr, 6, shows good form clear­ing an inflat­able hur­dle.
  7.  Christo­pher Brooks, 10, hits the inflat­able obsta­cles like a foot­ball play­er in train­ing.
  8.  Co-op mem­ber Harold Robin­son talks to Mason Mil­li­gan of Cen­tral Elec­tric Pow­er Coop­er­a­tive, YEC’s pow­er-sup­ply aggre­ga­tor, about the “co-op pow­ered” elec­tric Chevy Volt.
  9.  Stu­dents, includ­ing Kay Larus­sa and Tra­cie Coyne, from York Com­pre­hen­sive High School’s ROTC pro­gram once again helped the Lions Club serve up hot­dogs – four for a dol­lar!
  10.  There were plen­ty of oth­er food choic­es and Michael Bur­dette made sure mem­bers heard about the bar­be­cue from Mason­ic Lodge 111 in Rock Hill.
  11. There were plen­ty of Mike Smith’s fresh, hot pork rinds, anoth­er peren­ni­al crowd favorite.
  12.  Cot­ton can­dy and oth­er treats were fin­ger-lick­ing good to twins Mad­dy and Bran­non Cun­ning­ham, 4, and lit­tle broth­er Austin, 1.
  13. Peach­es the dachs­hund seems to be tow­ing own­er Rocky Roberts to the meet­ing.
  14. Around the cor­ner, Phyl­lis Adams and Dale Wil­son shake a leg to the music of the Car­oli­na Rhythm Band.
  15. Young songstress Jas­mine Buck­ley, 16, bor­rowed a gui­tar and gave the band a one-song break.
  16. Lane Huff­stetler, 1, tries out one of the recy­cling bins that the York Coun­ty Sol­id Waste & Recy­cling Author­i­ty gave to YEC mem­bers, while sup­plies last­ed. Look­ing on is his broth­er, Levi, 3. Oth­er mem­bers received free oil-change pans.
  17. Emcee Lou Green had fun with guests like Vic­to­ria Carter, who helped him whis­tle the theme to The Andy Grif­fith Show to win $5.
  18. Ella Kate Hare, 3 months old, was the youngest per­son at the meet­ing.
  19. The col­or guard from York Com­pre­hen­sive High School’s Navy JROTC pro­gram helps open the busi­ness meet­ing.
  20. Kansas Nor­ris, 2, had the best seat in the house – just below the col­or guard’s flags.
  21. Con­gress­man Mick Mul­vaney leads the crowd in the Pledge of Alle­giance.
  22. Co-op mem­bers bow their heads for the invo­ca­tion.
  23. CEO Paul Basha points out that YEC mem­bers have saved almost $625,000 on pre­scrip­tions using their Co-op Con­nec­tions cards.
  24. Board Chair­man Dick Bur­rell reports to the mem­ber­ship.
  25. The crowd lis­tens as win­ners are called in the prize draw­ing.
  26. Emi­ly Free­man, 14, tem­porar­i­ly became the most pow­er­ful per­son at the meet­ing, just by pulling the win­ning tick­ets!
  27. Fred Jor­dan wins a gift bag from Com­po­ri­um.
  28. Nan­cy Glenn claims a 24-inch LED LCD TV for her mom, Lei­tha Mof­fatt.
  29. Jamey Hen­der­son wins a 9.4 gal­lon Yeti cool­er.
  30. Kathy Rose won one of two grand prizes, a 1996 Chevro­let Sil­ver­a­do pick­up truck.
  31. The oth­er grand prize, a 2001 Chevro­let Sil­ver­a­do extend­ed-cab pick­up truck, went to James War­ren – and just in time, it would seem: He’d been dri­ving a 1972 Chevy pick­up he called “Old Blue” for many years.
